Cleanup in DKI needed
Cleanup in DKI needed
From Warta Kota
At present, the city administration (DKI) has rigorously been
taking strict action against its citizens that violate city
regulations.
We have seen, for example, the raids on pedicab drivers and
street vendors, acts that have claimed lives.
However, we regret DKI's action, in which only people at the
grassroots level have become victims. There are still many issues
of corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN) in DKI itself
involving its senior officials. In these cases, none of the
culprits has been brought to court.
Take, for example, the cases of "Ancolgate", corruption cases
in the civil servants' corps, the auction of locations for
displaying ads, none of which has been resolved. DKI should purge
itself of KKN before taking stringent measures against its
citizens found violating the regulations.
All of the DKI officials involved in such cases are hiding
behind Governor Sutiyoso's back. Well, the governor has always
boasted that he would take strict measures against his
subordinates who are guilty of committing KKN.
This is true only for those who are not close to him. Those
holding positions in the City Development Plan Agency as well as
in the City Order Service and allegedly involved in "Ancolgate",
have simply been let off, scot-free.
These people have even been given protection by the governor
on the grounds that they will soon retire. Curiously, they still
remain in office. When will other officials get an opportunity to
take up better positions?
