Clean Water Waqf in NTT Benefits Mosque and Church

The Al-Qur’an Waqf Body (BWA) inaugurated a Clean Water Waqf Facility in Oelet Village, East Amanuban District, South Central Timor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, on Tuesday (8/6/2026). The inauguration was lively and full of warmth, beginning with a traditional procession and dances that were enthusiastically welcomed by the Oelet Village community and residents from surrounding villages. The event was attended by BWA’s Director of Programmes and Fundraising, Ir. Heru Binawan, BWA’s Director of Networking and Qur’an Distribution, Ustadz Hazairin Hasan, as well as government representatives and community leaders including the sub-district head, village chief, representatives from the Health Service, the Head of the Religious Affairs Office, the police sector commander, military non-commissioned officers, and religious figures. This waqf programme was constructed with the installation of approximately 6,500 metres of HDPE pipes to channel water from the source to the beneficiary points. Clean water can now be enjoyed by one mosque, one church, one primary school, and the houses of residents who have long faced limited access to clean water. In his speech, Ir. Heru Binawan expressed gratitude to the people of Oelet Village for accepting and supporting the construction of the waqf facility. He hoped that the facility would be collectively maintained so that its benefits would continue to be felt in the long term. ‘As long as this waqf is maintained and continues to be utilised, God willing, the rewards will continue to flow to the donors who have contributed,’ he said. In addition to inaugurating the water facility, BWA also distributed gift packages containing soap and hygiene supplies to residents as a symbol of the importance of maintaining health and environmental cleanliness. On the same occasion, areca nut palm seedlings were handed over for planting around the water source area to support environmental preservation and the sustainability of the spring. The event concluded with the symbolic turning on of a water tap, marking the official flow of clean water in Oelet Village. The moment was greeted with joy by the community, who now have new hope for a healthier and more prosperous life thanks to the presence of the clean water waqf facility from BWA donors.
