Clean Water Reaches Remote Villages in West Manggarai

Residents of three hamlets in Siru Village, Lembor District, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), can finally enjoy clean water. The three hamlets are Beo Siru, Copa, and Kolong.

For decades, residents in these remote West Manggarai hamlets had no access to clean water. Now, clean water can flow to the residents’ hamlets using a solar-powered pump system.

The provision of clean drinking water with a solar-powered pump system is an aid programme from the Badan Waqaf Qur’an (BWA). BWA representative Haryadi expressed hope that this clean water provision programme would have a positive impact on the community and support various social and economic activities.

“With the operation of this system, water can now be distributed to meet daily household needs,” said Haryadi, who visited Siru Village on Friday (10/7/2026).

Siru Village Head Sumardi appreciated BWA and Fadli Daud, BWA’s Field Partner, for selecting his village for the implementation of the Clean Water Waqf programme.

“This facility is the answer to the community’s basic needs, who previously had to travel long distances and spend a lot of time to obtain clean water,” said Sumardi.
