Clean Water Network Built in Banjarsari Hamlet to Face Dry Season

A total of 122 residents in Banjarsari Hamlet, South Lampung Regency, can now enjoy more adequate access to clean water following the construction of a borehole complete with a water distribution network and sanitation facilities. The infrastructure provides a solution for a community that has faced limited water supply for years, particularly during the dry season. The facility serves 37 households and consists of an 80-metre-deep borehole, a water pump installation, a storage tank, piping networks, and sanitation facilities. It is expected to ease the fulfilment of daily clean water needs while supporting a healthier environment. The construction is part of the AdaKami Peduli programme, run by PT Pembiayaan Digital Indonesia (AdaKami) in cooperation with digital donation platform BenihBaik.com. The programme aims to assist communities in areas that still face limited access to basic necessities, including clean water and sanitation. The initiative is particularly relevant given the high demand for clean water in South Lampung Regency. According to data from the Lampung Provincial Government, clean water demand in the area is projected to reach approximately 1,900 litres per second by 2026, making it the fourth-highest in the province. AdaKami President Director Bernardino Vega stated that the construction of clean water and sanitation facilities reflects the company’s commitment to delivering tangible benefits to the community. ‘We hope the facilities in Banjarsari will not only meet daily needs but also help improve the community’s long-term health,’ he said. Local residents have already felt the programme’s benefits. Soleh, a resident of Banjarsari Hamlet, explained that before the borehole was built, people had to queue for a long time to get clean water. The limited supply was also of poor quality and had an odour. He noted that conditions became even more difficult during the dry season, when residents had to travel further to obtain water for daily use. ‘Before, people here had to wait a long time just to fill one jerrycan, and the water was bad and smelly. Even the mosque didn’t have enough water, let alone residents who had no water source,’ Soleh said. He added that the borehole means residents no longer worry about water shortages during the dry season. The improved water supply also supports social and religious activities in the community. ‘Now, Alhamdulillah, residents can get good and plentiful water, and we don’t have to worry during the dry season anymore.
