Clean Water Crisis: Bekasi Regency Distributes 3 Million Litres of Water to Affected Areas

The Bekasi Regency Government is accelerating efforts to address the clean water crisis affecting tens of thousands of residents. To date, 3,067,300 litres of clean water have been distributed to 37,972 individuals impacted by drought across various regions.

The Regional Secretary of Bekasi Regency, Endin Samsudin, led a coordination meeting regarding drought management at the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) hall on Thursday. He expressed appreciation to the BPBD and various stakeholders who have been distributing clean water to affected areas in stages.

“Coordination with regional agencies, the provincial government, and the business community is proceeding well. These efforts are being felt directly by the community through the delivery of clean water to drought-stricken areas,” said Endin.

Although the Bekasi Regency Government is not procuring new water tankers due to budget efficiency measures, the local administration has reallocated funds to cover fuel costs for the existing fleet. Endin also requested that regional agencies with water tankers assist in the distribution process. Furthermore, synergy with the private sector is being increased to expand the reach of the assistance.

“We are grateful to the companies that have been helping. However, we also invite other companies to collaborate to help lighten the burden on communities affected by the drought,” he added.

According to BPBD data as of 29 July 2026, 12,407 households, or 37,972 individuals, are experiencing a clean water crisis. The BPBD recorded 102 points of water shortages across 23 villages spanning nine sub-districts.
