Classical music on offer at Melia

YOGYAKARTA: In a treat for classical music lovers , the five-
star Yogyakarta Melia Purosani Hotel is holding a series of
classical music performances during March and April.

The hotel's public relations manager, Atik Damarjati, said the
performances would be held in a relaxed atmosphere in the lobby
lounge.

"So, you will be able to enjoy the performances while, say,
enjoying wine, cigars or coffee, all of which we serve in our
lobby room. Or, you can also listen to the music while seeing
demonstrations on how cigars are made," Atik said.

With the music played by the local Kimpling Ensemble Orchestra
under the sponsorship of Dos Hermanos cigars, the first
performance was held on March 12, 2004. The others are scheduled
for March 26, April 10 and April 24. All the remaining
performances will be held in the Soka Lounge in the lobby between
7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Among the works to be played are Eine Kleine
Nacht, Alegro 23, Quartet 25, Canon, Norwegian Dance
No. 5, and Air Bach.

Atik also said that some popular songs would also be played
during the performance, included Over The Rainbow, Juwita Malam,
Autumn Leave, Two Rondeaut, and Yesterday. --JP
