Clashes Erupt in Menteng, Central Jakarta; Police Move to Secure Area

A brawl and clash between groups erupted in the Menteng area of Central Jakarta. Police moved quickly to the scene to secure the situation. Based on video footage received by detikcom, the clash occurred on Jalan Proklamasi, Pegangsaan, Menteng, Central Jakarta. Two groups were seen throwing stones at each other in the middle of the road. Several individuals were also seen carrying wood and bamboo. The mob damaged fences and carts belonging to traders around the scene. In the video, a man was seen lying battered and bruised. Police officers arriving at the scene immediately secured one man and localised the area. When confirmed, Central Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head Iptu Erlyn verified the incident. He said the clash on Jalan Proklamasi occurred on Sunday morning. ‘It is true that the incident occurred, but I do not have complete data yet,’ Iptu Erlyn told reporters on Sunday (26/7/2026). Erlyn said his party is still collecting data on whether there were any fatalities or injuries in the incident. However, he confirmed the situation at the location is now conducive under police security. ‘Please wait for the data. But security measures have been taken,’ he concluded.
