A clash between residents in the Tambak area of Menteng, Central Jakarta, has resulted in one fatality. One person died after being taken to hospital following the brawl.

“The latest information is that of the two people secured from the crime scene, both were in critical condition when taken, but upon arrival at the hospital, one had died,” said Central Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Roby Heri Saputra to reporters at the location on Sunday (26/7/2026).

Roby explained that police received a report from local residents around 10:00 WIB regarding a disturbance between a group and the residents. Police intervened by deploying Brimob personnel to the scene.

“Of the victims we secured from the crime scene, two were taken to RSCM, and from the groups involved, there are two groups, one group of six people and the two outsiders whom we are currently securing and taking statements from at Menteng Police Station,” he clarified.

Roby stated that the trigger for the fight was a member of one group not being served properly when buying breakfast. This situation escalated, leading to the clash.

“So, a member of the group that was attacked came to buy breakfast, and perhaps because they were not served well or were displeased, they revved their vehicle. They then left and came back with friends to damage the nasi uduk or breakfast vendor’s cart,” he said.

“Following the destruction of the vendor’s stall, the local residents retaliated by attacking the group’s location, which is how the brawl occurred,” he added.
