Clash Between Two Groups in Palu Breaks Out, One Person Killed
Clashes between residents of Nunu and Tatura Utara (Anoa), in South Palu district, Palu, Central Sulawesi, broke out again. One resident from Anoa was reported to have died.
“According to the information we have received, one person has died. We are still waiting for a report from Budi Agung Hospital in Palu on what caused the victim’s injuries,” Palu Police Chief Commissioner Hari Rosena told reporters, as quoted by detikSulsel on Wednesday (28 October 2026).
The clash took place near Lalove Bridge, in Tatanga district, at around 5pm local time on Wednesday (28 October). In addition to the fatality, the exchange of attacks left several residents injured.
“Yes, Anoa residents were heading there carrying bladed weapons, and some had modified air rifles. Several people from Anoa were hit; some were injured in the legs and elsewhere,” he said.
Hari said the crowds arrived armed with bladed weapons and modified air rifles. The situation on the ground briefly became uncontrollable because the crowd greatly outnumbered the police.
“We had to retreat; we were outnumbered. In the end, one person died, and several others were injured in the legs and arms, if I’m not mistaken,” Hari said.
