Clarification on drug report

1. This is in reference to the news report titled Army private
caught at the Post for auto theft in The Jakarta Post of Jan. 17,
2000, page 4.

2. It is reported: "The source added that first Cpl. Sutrisno,
an active member of the Presidential Guard from the military
police, was arrested for the use and possession of two packets of
putauw (heroin) at Kampung Bali on Jan. 4 this year."

Please be informed that there is no member with the rank of
first corporal named Sutrisno in the Presidential Guard
(Paspampres), as reported in the Post as having been arrested for
the use of putauw at Kampung Bali on Jan. 4, 2000. It is assumed
that this person is a former member of Paspampres who moved to
another unit in August 1998.
3. In connection with the above, it is requested that the Post
clarify and rectify the aforementioned news report so that the
community will not have misperceptions about Paspampres.
