Clamp down on car exhaust

SEMARANG: The city administration will soon clamp down on
owners of vehicles which emit thick exhaust.

Four facilities to measure the exhaust have already been
installed in the most busy streets and the administration is now
drafting a regulation which will include severe penalties for
violators, the Antara news agency said.

The Central Java chapter of the Environmental Impact
Management Agency (Bapedalda), which is administering the
operation, will also be monitoring the emission of smoke by
factories in the city. (emb)
