Ciwandan Port, managed by Pelindo II, is prepared to accommodate 4,800 returning motorcycle travellers, with 12 queue lanes established by the port operator.

For vehicles in classes 5B and 6B, the queue area capacity can accommodate 400 to 500 vehicles.

“For motorcycles, there are 12 lanes with each lane having a capacity of 400 vehicles. Total capacity reaches 4,800 and even up to 5,000 motorcycles,” said Banten Police Chief Police Inspector General Hengki on Monday, 9 March.

Additionally, at Bandar Bakau Jaya (BBJ) Port in Serang Regency, vehicles in classes 7, 8 and 9 are handled separately. Meanwhile, Merak Port only serves private cars, buses and pedestrians.

“When the ship docks and the doors open, vehicles are ready, because tickets have already been collected,” he explained.

Pelindo II, the operator at Ciwandan Port, will operate four of its docks to serve returning motorcycle travellers heading to Sumatra Island.

Returning motorcycle travellers are requested to switch off their vehicle engines whilst inside the queue tent to reduce air pollution from exhaust emissions.

“Pelindo Ciwandan Port has prepared four docks. We are also preparing security posts, service posts, and health posts. God willing, all these preparations will be ready on 9 March 2026,” he said.
