Civil Service WFH Policy Evaluation Reveals 9% Drop in Pertalite Consumption
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The government has completed a comprehensive evaluation of the once-a-week work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN), including PNS.
Economic Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto stated that the two-month evaluation showed the policy was effective, with a decline in subsidized fuel consumption such as Pertalite.
‘Pertalite usage fell by nearly 9% in April, which is a positive outcome,’ Airlangga said at his office in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Given the energy efficiency benefits of the civil service WFH policy, Airlangga confirmed the government would extend it via a new directive from the Minister of Civil Service and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB).
‘Therefore, the policy will be extended, with the PANRB Minister issuing a new directive,’ Airlangga stated.
The policy will also be accompanied by further guidance for regional civil servants through local governments, state-owned enterprises via BP BUMN, and private sector employees through Labour Ministry regulations.
