North Jakarta’s Civil Service Police (Satpol PP) seized 755 bottles of alcoholic beverages during a dedicated enforcement operation known as Operasi Pekat (Concentrated Operation) in the area.

“This operation was carried out to maintain order and create a safe atmosphere during the holy month of Ramadhan,” said Budhy Novian, Head of the North Jakarta Satpol PP, in Jakarta on Monday.

He said the operation involved a joint team comprising the Civil Service Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police, and relevant Regional Work Units (UKPD), including the local Social Affairs Agency and the Transportation Agency.

Officers targeted locations suspected of selling or storing alcoholic beverages without official permits.

Budhy said the hundreds of confiscated bottles of alcohol did not possess the required Alcoholic Beverage Trading Permit (SIUP-MB), and were therefore deemed to be in violation of prevailing regulations.

The unlicensed alcoholic beverages will be submitted for a seizure order before being brought to summary offence court proceedings.

He further stated that the operation was part of the government’s efforts to maintain public order and provide a sense of security for the community, particularly during Ramadhan.

According to Budhy, the initiative also aimed to create a conducive environment so that residents could observe their religious duties in comfort.

He confirmed that Operasi Pekat would continue to be conducted regularly, especially throughout Ramadhan.

“This is a demonstration of the government’s commitment to maintaining order and public tranquillity in the DKI Jakarta region, particularly in North Jakarta,” Budhy said.
