Civil service hiring criticized
JAKARTA: Lack of transparency in the civil service recruitment process has given rise to widespread concern, a junior minister says.
State Minister for Administrative Reform Taufik Effendi told House of Representatives legislators on Tuesday that his office had received 358 complaints from the public, 242 of which were related to civil service hiring.
Besides complaining about a lack of transparency in the process, the public were also concerned about bribery during a recent intake of new civil service, he added.
Other complaints included the paying of bribes to win promotion in government offices and fraud committed by labor export firms, he said.
Taufik said 22 percent of the public complaints had been shown to be justified. -- JP
