The Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections has begun implementing a work-from-home (WFH) policy on Fridays for Civil Servants (ASN) carrying out management support tasks and/or administrative duties. This policy refers to Circular Letter from the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) Number 3 of 2026 on the Implementation of Official Duties for ASN Employees in Government Agencies and Circular Letter from the Minister of Immigration and Corrections Number 2 of 2026, effective from this Friday, 10 April 2026. Director General of Immigration, Hendarsam Marantoko, stated that this policy is intended to support more efficient energy management and utilisation, as well as to ensure protection and environmental management oriented towards the long term. “We assure that immigration service operations will not be disrupted. WFH is intended for ASN carrying out management support tasks,” said Hendarsam in a press statement on Friday (10/4). “For service officers or those conducting immigration supervision, they continue to work as usual,” he added. ASN who continue to carry out duties as usual on Fridays include all personnel at Immigration Offices (passport and residence permit services), Immigration Checkpoints (TPI) at international airports, ports, and border crossing posts, as well as intelligence and immigration supervision units. Hendarsam said that the Directorate General of Immigration is also conducting strict supervision of the work effectiveness of employees implementing WFH. Every direct superior is required to monitor daily work results to ensure productivity remains maintained even if not physically in the office. He also gave a message to all Immigration ranks throughout Indonesia to continue prioritising public interests. “Public interests are the top priority. I have instructed all regional office heads, immigration office heads, and immigration detention house heads to monitor directly in the field and ensure services continue to run quickly, transparently, and without obstacles,” said Hendarsam. “The implementation of WFH must not reduce the quality of services that we have built so far,” he added.
