A member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia, Agita Nurfianti, has emphasised that the implementation of the work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) on Fridays (10/4/2026) must not diminish the quality of services to the public.

Agita stated that although the technical policy falls under the government and Committee I of the DPD RI, her side remains highly attentive to its effectiveness in the field.

“In general, we in the DPD certainly encourage this policy to be carried out while prioritising optimal public services and ensuring no decline in service quality to the public,” Agita said when contacted on Thursday (9/4/2026).

Agita explained that structurally, specific oversight of bureaucratic and state apparatus policies is under the mandate of Committee I of the DPD RI. However, as a legislative body, the DPD RI collectively continues to monitor the impact of such policies.

As a member of Committee III of the DPD RI, which handles education, health, and social welfare issues, Agita affirmed that she will monitor the impact of this WFH policy from a societal perspective.

“We in Committee III will look at its impact on society, particularly if there are implications for the sectors we focus on, such as education, health, and social welfare,” she clarified.

Furthermore, Agita invited the public to actively provide input and reports if they encounter obstacles in public services during the WFH period. Such aspirations will later serve as material for evaluation in parliamentary meetings.

“Later, we will certainly be open to receiving input from the public regarding the implementation of this WFH as material for joint evaluation,” Agita concluded.

Previously, the government established a work-from-home scheme for civil servants (ASN). WFH will be implemented once a week, every Friday.

“The implementation of work from home for ASN, civil servants, in central and regional agencies, carried out for one working day per week, namely every Friday,” said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto during a virtual press conference on Tuesday (31/3).

Airlangga added that this WFH scheme will be outlined in a Circular from the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform and a Circular from the Minister of Home Affairs. Airlangga explained that this scheme is applied for efficiency to address geopolitical dynamics.

“As an adaptive and preventive step to face global dynamics, the government establishes a work culture transformation policy that encourages a more efficient, productive, and digital-based work behaviour culture,” he clarified.
