Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The government has just announced several new policies as steps to save energy amid the global crisis due to geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East. One of the policies announced is Work From Home (WFH) every Friday for all Civil Servants (ASN) or Civil Servants (PNS). What about schoolchildren? Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the WFH policy does not apply to the education sector. “The education sector will continue teaching and learning activities in person at all levels, from primary to secondary education, five days a week,” he said during a press conference on Tuesday (31/3/2026). “There are no restrictions on sports events related to achievements or other extracurricular activities.” More flexible rules are given for higher education levels. “For higher education, from the fourth semester onwards, it will adjust to the circular from the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology,” he added. He said that this policy will be regulated in detail in a Circular from the Minister of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform.
