The government is implementing work from home (WFH) every Friday for a portion of civil servants (ASN) starting today. ASN working from home must still fill out attendance or presence records using the application prepared by their institution.

One ASN from the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM), Kadafi (23), explained that the attendance system in his agency is conducted digitally. Employees are required to log attendance through the BPOM Civil Servant Information System (SIASN) application.

“Attendance uses SIASN BPOM. The process involves the location and face of the relevant ASN,” said Kadafi when contacted on Friday (10/4/2026).

Kadafi stated that the system will reject attendance if the employee is outside the permitted range. This is determined from the coordinate point that was previously registered.

“(Attendance is only possible) within a 100-metre radius of the registered home point,” he said.

Another ASN, Aprilia (27), said that the Ministry of Population and Family Planning (Kemendukbangga) also implements similar rules. She mentioned that attendance can only be done 50 metres from the registered home coordinates.

“In my attendance system, there are menu options for attendance: WFH, WFO, external meetings, or external duties. For WFH, we must select the WFH menu, and the geotag is set to a distance of only 50 metres from the home location,” said Aprilia.

She explained that the uploaded photo cannot use stock photos from the phone gallery. Employees must take photos in real-time.

“So before attending, we must first update our location, where our home is, through the application. So attendance is still with geotagging and using real-time photos,” she clarified.

In addition to the attendance system, she said, their leaders are also required to conduct direct supervision of employees. Coordination is done through video conferences.

“So in the Kemendukbangga circular, there is a point explaining that PTP, which is echelon 1, bureau chiefs or directors, must conduct supervision or monitoring of their employees. One of the ways is through Zoom Meetings or Google Meet,” she explained.

“So the point is, even though we are WFH, we are still monitored on what we are doing; we are not just doing nothing at all; there is still work,” she added.
