The implementation of a work-from-home (WFH) system for some civil servants (ASN) every Friday has begun. Aprillia (27), an ASN at the Ministry of Population and Family Development (Kemendukbangga), considers the WFH system more efficient. “In terms of time and costs, we are truly more efficient. Moreover, since I work in finance and budgeting, which requires greater concentration, working from home actually has fewer distractions than at the office, so I can be more focused,” said Aprillia when contacted on Friday (10/4/2026). Aprillia also discussed work-life balance. For her, the WFH policy one day a week helps maintain equilibrium between personal life and work. “With this simultaneous WFH once a week, it feels more comfortable, allowing for better work-life balance,” she stated. Kadafi (23), an ASN at BPOM, feels more focused when working from home. The reason is that Kadafi no longer needs to commute to the office. “For me, WFH provides an opportunity for ASN to focus more on work because they no longer have to worry about transportation to and from the office,” said Kadafi. Kadafi explained that WFH does not mean freedom from duties. At BPOM, he said, work supervision is conducted through the Individual Performance Information System (SIMAKIN) portal. Employees must report work progress to complete their attendance check-out. “The hope is that WFH is not rigid to Fridays only, but can be chosen according to the organisation’s needs and the ASN themselves,” he said.
