Civil servants making sure Bogor is clean
JAKARTA (JP): The Bogor city administration has deployed 1,500 personnel from various government institutions to clean the parks around Bogor Presidential Palace and to tidy up the city's foliage.
Bogor Mayor Eddy Gunardy said that such activities employing members of the national civil service are expected to help improve the city's image and give the impression that it deserves the honor of hosting an international conference of such magnitude.
The Antara news agency reported that the mayor expected such activities to be carried out regularly. "I hope this can be done regularly and not just because Bogor is hosting an international meeting," said Eddy.
"We should intensify the activity to keep the city clean always but first we have to work hard to make the conference successful."
The mayoralty also conducted crackdowns on street vendors and peddlers around the palace and in front of the railway station.(yns)
