Civil Servants in Sumenep Regency within 5 km Radius Encouraged to Walk to Office
Civil servants in the Sumenep Regency Government, East Java, are encouraged to travel to the office by walking or cycling if the distance from their residence to the workplace is within a 5 km radius. This recommendation is implemented as a step to support national energy resilience. Sumenep Regent Achmad Fauzi Wongsojudo has issued Circular Letter Number 17 of 2026 on Fuel Oil Savings, outlining these provisions. It is planned that on 3 April 2026, ASN in Sumenep Regency will designate a day for using non-fuel transportation. Fauzi added that all employees in Sumenep Regency must conserve fuel usage. “All ASN, including Part-Time Government Employees with Work Agreements, Outsourced Workers, BLUD Employees, and BUMD Employees in the Sumenep Regency Government environment are required to implement fuel oil (BBM) savings,” he explained. For public services requiring high mobility that indeed necessitate motorised vehicles, “Exceptions are made for employees whose distance from residence to workplace exceeds 5 (five) kilometres, thus permitting the use of fuel-powered transportation,” he stated. A work-from-home (WFH) policy is being implemented due to the potential global energy crisis. “Before April. Around this week,” clarified Airlangga regarding the announcement timing of the WFH policy, quoted from Kompas.com, Saturday (28/3/2026). The programme applies to ASN and private sector employees, but public services, industry, and health sectors are not included in the WFH policy.
