Civil servants (ASN), including civil service employees (PNS), in Nabire, Central Papua Province, will soon move to new housing prepared by the government. The housing consists of a row house (rusun), similar to a low-rise apartment, three storeys high, which is currently in the maintenance phase.

Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming inspected the progress of the row house construction on Monday (20/4/2026) to ensure the quality of the housing infrastructure for ASN in eastern Indonesia.

Comprising two towers, the rusun has 44 units each of type 36. Each unit includes two bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a laundry area.

Each housing unit is also equipped with furniture to support the comfort of the occupants, ranging from 160 cm beds, bunk beds for smaller rooms, two-door or one-door wardrobes, to dining tables, coffee tables, sofas, and a set of chairs. With these furnishings, all rusun units are in full furnish condition and ready to be occupied immediately. In addition, units on the first floor are prioritised for people with disabilities to ensure accessibility and ease of mobility for all occupants.

To the Governor of Central Papua, Meki Nawipa, the Vice President emphasised that there should be no hesitation in rejecting the work results if design defects are still found.

“Sir, if there are still design defects later, don’t accept it. This is professional, don’t accept [if there are design defects],” the Vice President stressed.

He emphasised that every stage of construction must meet quality standards from planning to implementation. According to him, meticulousness in ensuring the quality of design and construction is key so that the building can be optimally utilised, safely, and sustainably by the ASN who will occupy it.

The rusun facilities for ASN are expected to support new government centres in the area. The rusun is targeted to be occupied by ASN starting in 2027.
