Two school principals in Badung Regency, Bali, have been targeted by a scam involving fraudulent WhatsApp messages about civil servant (ASN) transfers. The Badung Civil Service and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM) has stressed that it never requests personal data, employment documents, or money related to the transfer process.

The scam came to light after the two principals received the suspicious messages, which caused unease and speculation within the school environment. They immediately reported the messages to the Badung Education, Youth and Sports Office (Disdikpora) to verify their authenticity.

“There were reports from two principals who received such WhatsApp messages and they immediately confirmed it with the office. The message did not mention Disdik, but falsely claimed to be from BKPSDM,” said the Head of Disdikpora Badung, I Gusti Made Dwipayana, on Monday (3/8/2026).

BKPSDM Badung confirmed that no official report has been filed yet, but the agency is coordinating with Disdikpora. “We have not received an official report from the schools or victims, and BKPSDM never provides transfer information to specific individuals,” stated Head of BKPSDM Badung, I Wayan Putra Yadhya.

To prevent further victims, Disdikpora Badung has issued a warning to all civil servants and school officials to be vigilant. Officials are reminded not to trust messages requesting personal data or documents and to always verify such communications directly with the relevant government agency.
