Civil Servant Found Dead in Car at Juanda Was Murdered, Suspect Linked to Fraud Syndicate

The body of Ruly Yunis Setiawati, Secretary of the Bangkalan Public Housing and Settlement Areas Agency (PRKP), found in a car in the parking area of Terminal 1 at Juanda International Airport, Sidoarjo, was a murder victim. Police have now identified the suspect.

Head of Sub-Directorate III for Violent Crimes at the East Java Regional Police’s General Criminal Investigation Directorate, AKBP Arbaridi Jumhur, stated that his team is cooperating with the Sidoarjo Resort Police to pursue the suspect, named Erlan. Besides being the alleged murderer, Erlan also has a background in a fraud syndicate.

"So, this person’s (E) background is that he is indeed a con artist," Jumhur said.

Jumhur explained that the suspect Erlan frequently targeted mature, financially established female victims. One of his victims, the Secretary of the Bangkalan PRKP Agency, was subsequently found dead in a car in the Juanda Airport parking area.

"The introduction was through a face-to-face meeting. Through a direct encounter. The victims are specifically women who are already established," Jumhur stated.

The case remains under police investigation. Officers have been deployed to hunt for the perpetrator.

Ruly’s body was discovered inside a red-plated Toyota Kijang Innova parked in the Terminal 1 area of Juanda International Airport, Sidoarjo, on Wednesday (24/6). Information gathered indicated that blood was seen flowing around the vehicle.
