Jakarta — The Civil Police Unit (Satpol PP) Jatinegara, East Jakarta, has intensified raids targeting People in Need of Social Welfare Services (PPKS) and illegal alcohol through public health operation initiatives.

“We are continuously conducting outreach for PPKS and illegal alcohol through public health operation (Pekat),” stated the head of the Civil Police Unit (Kasatpol PP) for Jatinegara District, Teguh Nurdin Amali in Jakarta on Friday.

The outreach through these raids is part of efforts to maintain public order and provide security to residents during Ramadan 1447 Hijri.

“We are conducting a Public Health Operation (Pekat) involving approximately 50 personnel from combined units, including the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri),” said Teguh.

According to him, this activity also aims to create a conducive atmosphere so that Muslims can carry out their Ramadan worship properly.

“We are sweeping several locations suspected of harbouring PPKS, illegal alcohol sales, banned drugs, and firecrackers,” he said.

“All of them are directly referred to the Ceger Social Welfare Centre in Cipayung District for treatment and rehabilitation,” said Teguh.

He added that 60 bottles of alcoholic beverages (miras) of various brands were also successfully confiscated from a small shop on Jalan KH Abdullah Syafii.

Additionally, officers discovered 235 pills of Class G drugs suspected of being sold without a licence from a cosmetics store on Jalan Raya Otista, Bidara Cina Village.

“We also successfully seized 12 mercon-type firecrackers. All evidence has been confiscated and will subsequently be destroyed in accordance with applicable regulations,” said Teguh.

Previously, combined personnel confiscated 128 illegal drugs and 15 bottles of alcohol in a public health operation in Matraman District, East Jakarta.

Hundreds of illegal pharmaceutical pills and dozens of bottles of alcohol were being sold freely by traders.

The trader selling illegal drugs was found on Jalan Kelapa Sawit, Utan Kayu Selatan Village, Matraman.

In the patrol, officers discovered a trader selling illegal drugs under the guise of selling cosmetics.

Enforcement was conducted together with the Matraman District health team, Matraman Police Station and Matraman Military District Command to ensure that the goods sold indeed violated regulations.

Additionally, officers swept several other locations and discovered illegal alcohol sales in the Ahmad Yani Road area, Utan Kayu Utara Village, Matraman. From that location, officers confiscated approximately 15 bottles of alcohol of various brands.
