A civil coalition visited the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta. They brought a letter from the acid attack victim, Andrie Yunus, for President Prabowo Subianto.

“We sent a letter yesterday stating that we would deliver a demand letter from various civil society groups. There are friends from organisations such as Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), as well as SAFENet, LBH Masyarakat, KontraS, and Amnesty International Indonesia,” said KontraS Working Body Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya at the State Secretariat Building, Friday (17/4/2026).

Dimas said the demand was conveyed to Prabowo through the State Secretariat. His group also planned to deliver Andrie Yunus’s letter to Prabowo.

“We also sent a notification letter and a letter to the State Secretariat stating that we would deliver that letter. And we are bringing a direct letter from Andrie Yunus, written by Andrie Yunus himself, to be handed over to the State Secretariat,” he stated.

Andrie Yunus’s letter was read aloud at the location. In the letter, Andrie urged the formation of a Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) to thoroughly investigate his case.

Here is the full content of Andrie Yunus’s letter:

Jakarta, 17 April 2026

To,

Mr Prabowo Subianto

President of the Republic of Indonesia

More than 30 days have passed; how is the progress of my case?

On Sunday, 12 April 2026, it marked 30 days since the planned attempted murder against me through the terror of an acid attack. I am writing this letter because I believe that to date, there has been no progress or serious commitment to resolving this case.

My colleagues at KontraS and TAUD, as my legal representatives, have undertaken various efforts to fight for justice respectfully, from conducting independent investigations, attending a General Hearing with Commission III of the DPR RI, to filing a Type B report with Bareskrim Polri.

TAUD’s investigation has identified at least 16 field perpetrators, further strengthening my rejection of resolution through military courts. In various case resolutions that harm civil society, such as enforced disappearances, murders, torture, and domestic violence by TNI personnel through military courts, justice, accountability, and comprehensive institutional responsibility up to the top command have never been found. This would only prolong the record of impunity.

Various parties, including Commission III of the DPR RI in the hearing, emphasised the importance of resolving this case by prioritising my interests and principles as the victim. Therefore, it is important to establish an Independent Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) to bring this case to civilian courts in order to transparently and accountably uncover all involved parties up to the intellectual actors.

Although the military court process will proceed, that process is never legitimate because from the start, there has been no transparency of information to the public regarding the results of investigations and inquiries at Puspom TNI. In connection with that, I hope the state does not take steps that will obscure the legal process.

As a victim of violence by military personnel, I request that the President of the Republic of Indonesia immediately form a TGPF and decide that this case should be resolved in civilian courts.

I ask that you ensure the handling of this case proceeds accountably and adheres to the principles of due process of law, placing civilian courts as the legitimate, credible, and corruption-free forum.

This case is not merely about me, but about the state’s commitment to protecting its citizens and upholding the law fairly.

Regards,

Andrie Yunus
