Civil Coalition Holds 30-Day Commemoration for Andrie Yunus Case
The Civil Society Coalition for Security Sector Reform held a 30-day commemoration for the planned attempted murder case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus.
Based on Tempo’s observations, the 30-day commemoration following the acid splashing incident was marked by a reconstruction of the surveillance and execution location, the installation of ribbons, and the creation of a mural as a form of support.
Member of the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), Fatia Maulidiyanti, stated that the agenda was organised as a form of solidarity as well as a demand to ensure a fair and thorough legal process. “This activity is an effort we are making to collectively combat the fear that the authorities intend to instil. We believe solidarity is the strength to counter such terror,” Fatia said at the scene of the Andrie case, on Sunday, 12 April 2026.
The coalition’s reconstruction route began from the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI). Before the splashing incident, Andrie was recording a podcast at the office led by Muhammad Isnur.
The journey continued past the Megaria bus stop and the Cikini petrol station. In footage gathered by the coalition from surveillance cameras, the perpetrator stalked Andrie to the petrol station area after the activist left the YLBHI office.
Reconstruction was then conducted at Diponegoro Park. At this location, surveillance camera footage collected by the coalition captured indications of another perpetrator coordinating with the acid splash executor.
The event concluded at the crime scene on Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Central Jakarta. “We held a flower-scattering action, ribbon installation, mural creation, joint prayer, and statement of position,” Fatia said.
In the statement of position, the coalition urged President Prabowo Subianto to immediately form an independent Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) and pressed the Constitutional Court to promptly decide on the judicial review lawsuit against the TNI Law regarding general courts.
“And to urge Komnas HAM to immediately conduct a pro justitia investigation to strengthen law enforcement in the Andrie case,” said the former KontraS Coordinator.
Andrie Yunus was doused with corrosive chemical liquid on 12 March 2026 while passing through Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Central Jakarta. Medical records state that the KontraS Deputy Coordinator suffered burns over 20 percent due to this attack.
Last week, TNI’s Central Provost transferred the case file and evidence to the Military Prosecutor 07-II Jakarta. If the file is deemed complete, the Andrie case will begin to be tried at the Military Court 08-II Jakarta.
From statements by TNI’s Central Provost, there are four splashing perpetrators. They are NDP, SL, BHW, and ES, from the air and sea branches. NDP holds the rank of captain, SL and BHW are first lieutenants, while ES is a second sergeant.
On 3 April 2026, Andrie Yunus wrote a letter of objection if his case is tried through military court mechanisms. He demanded that this case be tried through general court mechanisms.
According to him, legal processes through military courts have the potential not to provide justice for victims. Whoever the perpetrators are, whether civilians or military personnel, they must be tried through general courts. Moreover, Andrie views military courts as often becoming spaces of impunity for military personnel who commit legal and human rights violations.
