City's annual revenues increase 67 percent
JAKARTA (JP): The city recorded an increase in its revenues from Rp 996 billion (US$461.01 million) in the 1992/1993 fiscal year to Rp 1.67 trillion in the just concluded 1993/1994 fiscal year.
The 67.7 increase was announced yesterday at a plenary session of the City Council.
In his written address read by Deputy Governor for Economic and Development Affairs Tubagus M. Rais, Governor Surjadi Soedirdja said the 1993/1994 revenues were 3.56 percent higher than expected.
A total of 59.46 percent of the revenues, or Rp 993 billion, was acquired from the city's original earned income consisting of municipal taxes, levies, part of the municipal companies' profits, municipal offices revenues and others.
The city's revenues come from its originally earned income such as property taxes, vehicle taxes and parking fees, the central government subsidy, foreign aid and grants.
The increase was due to the city's higher income from taxes, which was up from Rp 419.20 billion in the 1992/1993 fiscal year to Rp 768.46 billion in the 1993/1994 fiscal year.
Revenues from levies also increased from Rp 89.82 billion to Rp 143.64 billion.
The revenues from the 69 city-owned companies increased from Rp 11.13 billion to Rp 13.58 billion.
However, its revenues from 28 offices under the city administration plummeted from Rp 2.56 billion to Rp 898 million.
The city's other income sources increased from Rp 33.38 billion to Rp 69.18 billion.
Its income from the central government in the form of taxes and non-tax income sharing inched upwards from Rp 57.37 billion to Rp 59.29 billion.
Central government aid and grants also increased from Rp 188.71 billion to Rp 324.64 billion.
Tubagus said that the city spent only 86.98 percent of its Rp 1.61 trillion budget during the previous fiscal year. (03)
