The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) will evaluate the city tour programme following indications of fatigue experienced by some pilgrims due to the density of activities undertaken before and after the peak of the Hajj rituals.

Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf stated that the city tours may have been well-intentioned, aiming to help pilgrims become more familiar with the Holy Land and its surrounding areas, especially since they can be conducted after all guests of God have completed their Hajj obligations. However, he stressed that in many cases, numerous pilgrims experienced exhaustion after participating in the tour series.

“We are observing again that, indeed, after Armuzna (Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina), many are immediately taken on city tours, taken everywhere, which makes them tired, so we will evaluate our policy on city tours,” said Minister Mochamad Irfan Yusuf at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, on Tuesday (23/6/2026).

He noted that a number of pilgrims were known to have immediately participated in visits to various locations before or after completing the Armuzna rituals. These activities included trips to several destinations outside Makkah, such as Taif and Jeddah.

According to him, this situation needs attention because it has the potential to affect the pilgrims’ health, especially considering the high level of fatigue after undergoing the intense series of Hajj rituals. “This can greatly affect the health of our pilgrims,” said Minister Irfan.
