City to have one-stop lifestyle center
JAKARTA: PT Summarecon Agung Tbk, the largest developer in Kelapa Gading, East Jakarta, officially began the groundbreaking ceremony to create a new concept of town square on Wednesday.
The town square, to be named La Piazza, will be built on a one-hectare plot of land near Kelapa Gading circle, where Jl. Bulevar Utama and Jl. Bulevar Barat-Timur meet, said the company's director Paul Nio during a press conference.
Paul said that the town square concept would only have 30 selected outlets, leaving a very big open space for visitors.
"This is a new concept (for Indonesians), a one-stop lifestyle center," he said.
La Piazza plans to provide upmarket restaurants, a dance club, a billiard club, stores with popular foreign brands, bookstores, a spa and karaoke lounges.
Paul said that all sorts of entertainment would be available at La Piazza, which will target well-heeled families, and therefore he guaranteed that the plaza would be a "clean" place suitable for all members of the family.
La Piazza is expected to cost around Rp 60 billion (US$7.15 million) to build is scheduled to open in April 2004. -- JP
