City officers sent to Padang
JAKARTA (JP): Two senior detectives from Jakarta are scheduled to leave for the West Sumatra capital of Padang today to question two local policemen for lending a gun to a man who used the gun to shoot dead his superior early this week.
City police spokesman Lt. Col. Iman Haryatna said on Thursday that the two officers would spend a few days in Padang to match the dossiers they had earlier compiled in connection with Saturday's shooting on Jl. Suprapto here.
Iman said the officers are from the Central Jakarta precinct, but he refused to identify them.
The two Padang police officers, First Sergeant JH, known as the owner of the gun and First Sergeant Nv, the mediator respectively, will become witnesses in the shooting case.
The suspect, Erfiandy Taufik, 28, allegedly borrowed the gun from JH to shoot Lukman Lijas in a Volvo sedan, in a dispute over a woman.
The woman had asked the victim to help her get away from the suspect, who did not want the victim to poke his nose into his business with the woman.
Police said Erfiandy got the gun 38 caliber Colt, from JH under the help of his close friend, Nv.
Antara quoted West Sumatra regional police chief Yuzar Hasan as saying yesterday that JH has been arrested and will go before a military tribunal soon.
Yuzar however gave no explanation about the status of Nv. (bsr)
