City needs 700 ha for cemeteries
JAKARTA (JP): The city has set a target of having 700 hectares for public cemeteries by 2005, the head of the city's cemetery office said yesterday.
"At present due to limited spaces, the practice of burying bodies on the graves of other family members is still common," Zainuddin Nawawi said, the Antara news agency reported.
Currently Jakarta has only 567 hectares of sites used for public cemeteries. (bas)
