City, ministry help bomb victims

JAKARTA (JP): The city administration and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare have provided Rp 87.5 million (US$9,200) worth of medicines and payment of medical expenses for some 40 people injured in the Christmas eve bomb attacks in various churches in the capital.

Spokesman for the city administration Jorlan Sinaga said on Monday his office will be in charge of all medical costs, while the ministry will pay for the medicine.

He said hospitals where the victims are being treated, including Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, St. Carolus Hospital, and Mitra Menteng Abadi Hospital, have been asked to submit their bills to the two state institutions.

All bills already paid by the families of the victims will be reimbursed, Jorlan said.

Excluding the financial assistance scheme is the provision of prosthesis or cosmetic surgery if required, he added. (04)
