City gets solar clocks
JAKARTA (JP): The state-owned Pertamina oil company has donated three solar-powered clocks to the municipality.
Pertamina President Faisal Abda'oe symbolically presented the clocks to Governor Surjadi Soedirdja at City Hall recently.
The clocks are now standing in the Blok M shopping area, South Jakarta, in front of the Pertamina central office and near the Gambir train station, Central Jakarta.
As solar energy is yet to gain in popularity here, Surjadi said the clocks are expected to attract attention to the technology.
In response to possibilities of wider use by households, he said he was informed that the technology is still too expensive for mass use.
"I ask that citizens take care of the clocks, and make good use of them," he said. (anr)
