Health division coordinator of Yayasan Putri Sukarseno, Hernawati Sukarseno (left), visits Desi and her six-month-old son Saeful Algi at their house in Gunung Picung village in Bogor. The foundation, which was established by a group of expatriate families, finances medical treatment for malnourished children in Bogor municipality, in particular those who to undergo specialized surgery. Saeful is presently recuperating from such surgery.

Yokohama Research Center director Noriyosi Ichikawa (left), accompanied by researchers Toshio Shiraishi and Takashi Nakashima, hands a poster of the endangered Jalak Bali bird (Leucopsar rothschild), also known as Curik Bali, to Indonesia's Adi Susmianto from the directorate general of Biological Diversity Conservation. The event on Sept. 8 was also attended by the chairman of the Association of Curik Bali Conservationists (right). The research center sent 20 of the birds to Indonesia last year and another 30 will be sent in November.

Former tourism minister Joop Ave hands a copy of his book Asia- Africa Towards the First Century to Minister of Foreign Affairs Hassan Wirajuda. The 225-page hardcover book contains a history of the Asia-Africa Conference and the writings of several international leaders who took part in the first conference in Bandung in 1955.
