City buses not safe

City bus passengers welcome the presence of a police detective
unit (Reserse Mobil) in civilian dress to curb criminal action,
which has been on the rise in Jakarta lately.

My work compels me to leave late from the office. Every day, I
don't feel safe on my way home, at the bus shelter and in
whatever public transportation vehicle I decide to take. The
situation is the more dangerous when the vehicles are crowded.
Several times, I have seen pickpockets in action. Holdups are
also a common occurrence.

I hope the police detectives in civilian clothes will also
ride on the buses to protect the passengers.
