Citizens Urged Not to Panic-Buy as Fuel Stocks Are Guaranteed Safe Ahead of Eid Al-Fitr
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from the Gerindra Faction, Andre Rosiade, has assured that the national stock of fuel (BBM) is safe during the mudik period and Lebaran 2026.
Andre said the government through Pertamina and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) had prepared various scenarios to ensure fuel supply remains steady during the mudik period and after Lebaran.
‘Yes, as has been stated from the start, our BBM stock for 21 days is indeed our capacity in the tanks. But God willing, the BBM stock is safe, so the public should not worry, especially not panic buying, because the government has guaranteed that the BBM stock is sufficient,’ he said when asked at the DPR building on Sunday (8/3/2026).
‘So I think there is no need to worry excessively; the government through Pertamina and the ESDM Ministry has already prepared various scenarios to ensure our BBM stock is safe,’ Andre explained.
He revealed that the DPR Commission VI has received a report from Pertamina regarding the condition of national BBM stock. Based on that report, supply is not only sufficient until Lebaran but is also safe after the holiday period ends.
In addition to the report, Andre admitted he also conducted direct checks in his electoral district in West Sumatra. The results showed that the BBM storage capacity in his area is able to meet the needs of the people during Lebaran.
‘I’ve also checked in West Sumatra, my electoral district; the tanks are safe to last until Lebaran. That was my field check — it is safe until Lebaran, even a week after Lebaran it will still be safe,’ Andre said.
One measure is to ensure all public fuel filling stations (SPBU) along the mudik route are fully stocked.
‘Aman. So besides the tanks we look at, we also check readiness; we have already received reports from Pertamina. Pertamina ensures that every point on the mudik route, Pertamina has prepared, in addition to the posts with the Police (Polri), and also fully stocked SPBU,’ he said.
Therefore, he reiterated that the public should not worry about BBM availability during the Lebaran mudik period.
