The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) is holding a national dhikr and prayer event at the National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta, tonight. The Monas area is already crowded with enthusiastic citizens participating in the event.

Observations at the location on Saturday (1/8/2026) at 19:35 WIB showed that residents had filled the entire southern side of Monas, which serves as the primary site for the national dhikr and prayer. The event is being attended by worshippers from various religious backgrounds.

Attendees were seen wearing Muslim attire, for both men and women. Other residents were observed wearing white clothing accompanied by Balinese ‘udeng’ (traditional Hindu headbands) and yellow sashes. The worshippers participated solemnly in the collective dhikr and prayer, led directly by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasar_uddin Umar, alongside several religious leaders. The participants sat together in unity.

In addition to the southern intersection of Monas, which serves as the main stage, crowds also gathered at the other intersections of the Monas area, watching the national dhikr and prayer via provided large screens.

Worshippers began arriving at the Monas area since this afternoon, travelling in large groups via buses from various regions. It was previously reported that the Ministry of Religious Affairs estimated approximately 100,000 participants would attend the event. The Director of Islamic Religious Information at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Muchlis M. Hanafi, stated that the committee has conducted thorough operational preparations on the ground.

“We are continuously preparing all operational aspects through close coordination with the State Secretariat, the Indonesian National Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Jakarta Provincial Government, and all committee members. Our goal is simple: to ensure all participants can follow the National Dhikr and Prayer safely, comfortably, orderly, and with deep devotion,” he said in a written statement on Friday (31/7).
