A netizen’s complaint regarding their report through the JAKI application went viral on social media platform Threads. The report submitted by account @/seinsh about illegal parking in the Kalisari area, East Jakarta, was followed up with a photo using artificial intelligence (AI), as if the problem had been resolved.

Head of the Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik) of the Province of Jakarta, Budi Awaluddin, stated that his office had coordinated with the Government Bureau as the final validator for all follow-ups to complaints handled by Regional Device Organisations (OPD) and Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD). The result found an error.

“The Government Bureau acknowledges an error in the validation process. Until now, no evidence of follow-up to complaints using AI-generated photos has ever been found,” he said in his statement on Sunday (5/4/2026).

According to Budi, the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Jakarta ensures that corrective steps will be taken immediately. In addition, they will strengthen the monitoring system to prevent similar incidents from recurring.

He explained that from January to March 2026, more than 62,571 public complaints were recorded through various channels, including the JAKI application and the integrated Public Quick Response System (CRM). On average, 20,857 complaints are received each month, which are then followed up by OPD/BUMD and verified by the Government Bureau.

“With such a large number of complaints, Diskominfotik will assist the Government Bureau in identifying follow-up evidence that potentially uses AI, so that the verification process is increasingly accurate and accountable,” said Budi.
