The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) has developed the National Digital Samsat (SIGNAL) application, allowing citizens to pay motor vehicle taxes without visiting Samsat offices. However, users of the SIGNAL app are hoping for additional integrated services.

Garniku, a regular user, stated that she has long used the SIGNAL app to pay for her child’s vehicle tax, noting that the process is convenient and can be managed remotely. “I have used it for quite some time because my child’s vehicle is currently in Surabaya. I have always used SIGNAL for renewals because it is easy and does not require physical presence,” Garniku said at the East Jakarta Samsat on Thursday (1/10/2026).

Garniku noted that while Korlantas has introduced other innovations alongside SIGNAL, these applications are not yet synchronised, forcing users to switch between different apps for different services. “Because there are many different apps, it would be better if they were synchronised with one another. For instance, when I wanted to renew my tax, I discovered my vehicle was blocked due to an ETLE violation. On SIGNAL, the information appears, but I cannot pay the fine there, so I have to switch to another application,” she explained.

Garniku also expressed hope that Korlantas would increase socialisation and education regarding the SIGNAL app’s features to ensure the public is fully aware of its capabilities.

Another citizen, Cucun, highlighted the need for better support information within the app, specifically regarding the procedure for filing complaints if a verification process fails. “For example, if we are not yet verified, there should be information on where to go or who to contact for help. This information needs to be provided by the relevant authorities,” said Cucun.

Cucun further suggested that the app should include a new feature to connect directly with Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) payments. “My suggestion for the SIGNAL app is to link it with ETLE. That way, we could pay our electronic fines directly through the app and resolve any blocks immediately, without having to navigate multiple platforms,” he added.
