Prospective passengers are advised to arrive at the airport early, three hours before their scheduled departure, to anticipate adjustment processes in the terminal area.

Tangerang (ANTARA) - National airline Citilink has gradually resumed normal flight services to and from Jakarta and Bandung, West Java, after routes were temporarily closed due to the spread of volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK).

Citilink’s Corporate Secretary & CSR Group Head, Tashia Scholz, speaking in Tangerang on Tuesday, said the route reopening policy took effect from 07.00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB), following the resumption of operations at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta, and Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung.

“Flight operations are being carried out gradually after undergoing safety assessments and taking into account the latest conditions regarding the spread of volcanic ash,” she explained.

She said that in connection with the resumption of flight operations, Citilink urged passengers with flight schedules from 8 September 2026 at 07.00 WIB to pay attention to several important matters, including regular checks of passenger baggage, arrival times before scheduled departure, and safety factors.

“Passengers are asked to routinely monitor flight status through Citilink’s official website and mobile application. Prospective passengers are advised to arrive at the airport early, three hours before their scheduled departure, to anticipate adjustment processes in the terminal area,” she said.

In this regard, the company affirmed its commitment to ensuring all flights run safely and smoothly, while continuing to prioritise flight safety and security above all else.

Previously, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, or InJourney Airports, as the main airport operator, stated that flight operations at Soekarno-Hatta in Tangerang, Halim Perdanakusuma in Jakarta, and Husein Sastranegara in Bandung were ready to serve passengers again.

Corporate Secretary Group Head of InJourney Airports, Arie Ahsanurrohim, in a statement received in Tangerang on Tuesday, said the resumption of flight services at the three airports was based on a NOTAM from AirNav Indonesia, with resumed operations status issued at 00.30 WIB.

“The air side and land side facilities at all three airports are ready to serve flights again. All airport operations and service personnel have also been confirmed ready,” he said.

He explained that, according to the current situation, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang resumed operations on 8 September 2026 from 00.30 WIB, Halim Perdanakusuma Airport resumed operations on 8 September 2026 from 00.40 WIB, and Husein Sastranegara Airport resumed operations on 8 September 2026 from 00.42 WIB.

Nevertheless, the airport reopening procedures were carried out, including the cleaning of volcanic ash across the entire air side, namely the apron, taxiway and runway.

“In addition, friction tests were conducted on the runway, which showed that the facilities meet the standards and requirements for serving flight operations,” he said.
