Citarum River flow shrinks amid prolonged dry season

The flow of the Citarum River in Cihampelas, West Bandung Regency, West Java, has decreased due to a dry season that has lasted for about the past month. The condition has exposed stretches of sediment and waste that had been lying on the riverbed, nearly covering parts of the river channel. The combination of sedimentation and rubbish has made some sections of the river appear increasingly narrow. The Citarum River supplies water to the Saguling Reservoir, as well as providing drinking water, raw water, and irrigation for agriculture.
