Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Center for Islamic Studies in Finance, Economics, and Development (CISFED) Farouk Abdullah Alwyni has called on the Indonesian government to play an active role in stopping the military aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran.

Farouk stated that such military actions are not merely geopolitical dynamics but a form of unilateral use of force that violates international law and the principle of state sovereignty.

“The ongoing escalation demonstrates a pattern of aggression that can no longer be tolerated by the international community,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

He added that in this situation, Indonesia cannot remain passive. As a nation that upholds the principles of independence, justice, and world peace, Indonesia is seen as needing to take a firm and dignified position.

Farouk specifically requested President Prabowo Subianto to take several strategic steps.

First, the government is asked to actively remind the US that the use of military force without a legitimate legal basis constitutes a violation of international law principles.

He also urged the immediate cessation of all forms of military aggression against Iran.

Second, Indonesia is called upon to issue a firm and unambiguous condemnation of Israel.

“This step is considered important to maintain moral consistency and the direction of Indonesia’s foreign policy,” Farouk said.

Fourth, Indonesia is expected to capitalise on the dynamics of public opinion in the US, which is said not to fully support its country’s military involvement.

“This is seen as an opportunity to increase international moral and diplomatic pressure,” he added.

Finally, he also emphasised the importance of promoting the formation of a more just and balanced multipolar world order to prevent the dominance of a single power in the international system.

In addition, Indonesia is encouraged to take on the role of a bridge builder in diplomacy, by facilitating dialogue between Iran, Gulf countries, and other relevant parties to create regional stability based on cooperation.

Farouk added that with the principles of free and active foreign policy and the constitutional mandate, Indonesia has a moral responsibility to engage in maintaining world peace.

“It is time for Indonesia to demonstrate its leadership, not merely as an observer, but as an active actor that sides with justice,” he said.
