The findings regarding the suspected cause of pollution in the Cisadane River in the Pakuhaji and Teluknaga areas of Tangerang Regency have been revealed. Banten Governor Andra Soni stated that one company has been identified as the cause of the river water turning black. He confirmed that he has requested the Banten Provincial Environment and Forestry Service (DLHK) to follow up on the matter. Based on field findings, the black water originated from a discharge channel of the Sabi River in Bayur Village, Periuk Jaya Urban Ward, Periuk District, Tangerang City. “The Banten DLHK has conducted an investigation and has found the source point of why the Cisadane River changed colour to black,” Andra stated on Monday (20/7). Andra emphasised that one industry is suspected of being the cause of the colour change in the downstream section of the Cisadane River. He has requested the Banten Provincial DLHK to coordinate with the Tangerang City Environmental Agency to take immediate follow-up action. Andra demanded that the company be processed according to the rules and called for firm sanctions if the company is proven to have committed violations. “If proven to have violated regulations, firm and measured action must be taken immediately in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations,” he said.
