Ciremai Train Trapped in Landslide in West Bandung, Track Disrupted

The Ciremai train on the Semarang Tawang-Bandung route became trapped in a landslide in the Jalan Maswati-Sasaksaat section, West Bandung Regency, on Wednesday (1/4). As a result, the train’s journey had to be temporarily halted at the affected location, specifically at KM 142+8/9 in the Jalan Maswati-Sasaksaat section. Initial information about the incident was received by the Daop 2 Bandung Operations Control Centre from the Ciremai train crew on Wednesday (1/4) at 14:53 WIB. Upon receiving the report, personnel immediately conducted intensive coordination to ensure the safety of train travel and handle the situation on the ground. Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 2 Bandung, Kuswardojo, stated that passenger safety is the top priority in every operational condition. “We apologise for the inconvenience experienced by Ciremai train passengers due to this travel disruption. Currently, the train journey must be temporarily stopped as a safety measure, while awaiting the completion of handling at the location,” said Kuswardojo. This disruption occurred due to heavy rain and natural conditions at the site, which are beyond KAI’s operational control. Currently, the KAI Daop 2 Bandung Emergency Response Team is moving quickly to prepare handling measures, including evacuation efforts if necessary and clearing landslide material from the tracks. Infrastructure personnel along with related teams have been deployed to the location to handle the track and evacuate the Ciremai train’s condition. Due to this incident, the Jalan Maswati-Sasaksaat section is temporarily obstructed and cannot be passed by train journeys. KAI is also continuing to coordinate with relevant parties to accelerate the handling process. KAI Daop 2 Bandung assures that it will continue to provide the latest information to passengers regarding developments in this situation through various official channels. Passengers are urged to remain calm and follow instructions from on-site personnel.
