The Social Affairs Office (Dinsos) of Cirebon Regency, West Java, has stated that the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ (People’s School) currently being prepared in the region will accommodate 270 students from poor and extremely poor families for the 2026/2027 academic year. Head of the Cirebon Regency Dinsos, Hafidz Iswahyudi, said on Friday that this quota is divided across three educational levels to be held at the school. He explained that each level—elementary, junior secondary, and senior secondary—will accept 90 students, with each level consisting of three study groups with a capacity of 30 students per class. “Each level has three study groups, each containing 30 students,” he said. Hafidz noted that all students will follow a boarding school system implemented in the Sekolah Rakyat programme. He added that prospective students must also be domiciled in Cirebon Regency to ensure the programme is well-targeted. “The outreach for prospective students is still being conducted by the Ministry of Social Affairs’ human resources, targeting poor and extremely poor families who are registered,” he said. Meanwhile, he mentioned that the physical construction of the Cirebon Regency Sekolah Rakyat is still underway and is targeted for completion before teaching and learning activities begin. Hafidz said the construction progress has currently reached approximately 68 percent, based on reports received by the local government.
