CIREBON, West Java: The remains of Cirebon's late Kanoman sultan were buried on Tuesday afternoon.

Sultan Muhammad Djalaludin died of kidney failure the previous day in the Pertamina Hospital here, following nine days of medical treatment.

The remains of the hereditary ruler of one of the surviving sultanates on Java island were laid to rest on Sembung mountain in the afternoon during a traditional sultanic burial ceremony, said Princess Arimbi Nurtina, one of the Sultan's daughters.

The sultan is survived by 16 children from his three wives, Sultana Amanah, Sultana Suhermi and Sultana Srimulya.

According to Arimbi, the sultan started complaining on Nov. 9 of fatigue. It was found that his blood pressure was high and he was immediately brought to the hospital.
