Cirebon (ANTARA) - The Cirebon Regency government in West Java targets the completion of the People’s School construction in the area by June 2026 as an effort to expand educational access for underprivileged communities.

The Head of the Social Services Office (Dinsos) of Cirebon Regency, Hafizd Iswahyudi, in Cirebon on Friday, stated that the construction of the school building and facilities is still proceeding according to plan and has not encountered any significant obstacles on the ground.

“The completion target for the school construction is scheduled for June 2026 so that it can be immediately utilised by the community,” he said.

The local government, he added, continues to support the acceleration of the work so that the educational facility can soon enter the operational phase.

He explained that the student admission mechanism at the People’s School differs from regular schools, as it does not open independent registrations for prospective students.

“The student recruitment process is carried out directly by the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) by referring to the integrated data of the central government,” he said.

With this system, he continued, the educational assistance programme is expected to be more on target and reach those who truly need it.

He assessed that the data-based selection pattern is more effective compared to the open registration system, which has been applied in many schools.

According to him, the centralised arrangement from the central government is expected to create uniform standards for educational services across various regions.

The People’s School programme itself is one of the government’s strategies to reduce dropout rates, while also improving the quality of human resources from underprivileged communities.

“We support the acceleration of the construction until the school can be immediately used by the community after the construction process is completed,” he said.
