Cirebon Regency prepares temporary teachers for Sekolah Rakyat operations

The Cirebon Regency Government, West Java, has opted to prepare temporary teaching staff to support the operations of Sekolah Rakyat, which is scheduled to begin accepting students in July 2026, while awaiting the placement of teachers from the central government. Cirebon Regional Secretary Hendra Nirmala stated that this measure is being taken so that teaching and learning activities can commence as soon as students move into the dormitories. “We are preparing temporary teachers so that the learning process can start immediately when the students enter the dormitory,” he said in Cirebon on Tuesday. He noted that students are scheduled to enter the dormitory on 11-13 July 2026 as part of the initial phase of the Sekolah Rakyat programme in Cirebon Regency. In the first stage, the school requires five teachers for the primary level, while the junior and senior high levels each require 15 teachers. The local government is also preparing various supporting aspects to ensure the boarding school’s operations run according to plan. A total of 270 prospective students are scheduled to undergo health checks before entering the dormitory. The administration is also preparing support personnel, including dormitory supervisors, caregivers, cleaning staff, and health workers, to assist the students’ daily activities. “We are still waiting for technical guidance from the Ministry of Social Affairs, particularly regarding the assignment mechanism and rights for these temporary teachers while they serve at Sekolah Rakyat,” Hendra added.
